Diaspora Blues/ We Film PH
What is it like to be the one who left? What is it like to be a child of somebody who left? What is it like to come back? What is it like to belong? What is it like to not belong? What is it like to live with a lack? And what's your favorite Filipino food?
The three films in Diaspora Blues – "Nightingales" by RJ Fernandez, "Walking in Tupi" by Amanda L. Andrei, and "Muyas" by Jules Leaño – offer humanizing glimpses of lives lived elsewhere. The films address yearnings and apprehensions of those in the diaspora, of those who have come home and are about to come home to the Philippines even if they have never been here, going beyond greener pastures, beyond balikbayan boxes and remittances, beyond language.
